Pink Fight (2022)

LOVE/FIGHT is the debut solo exhibition by London-based multidisciplinary artist Betty Ogundipe (b. 2001).

Across new paintings, photographs, textile sculptures and site-specific installations, Ogundipe refracts the realities of Black womanhood through the intersecting lenses of militant femininity, new wave feminisms and feminine resilience.

Her practice sits at the threshold between documentary and abstraction, driven forward by a quest to understand how cultural, collective and personal histories shape contemporary lived experience. Ogundipe experiments with self-imposed discipline – a strict eight-colour palette; a proclivity for physically intensive processes of making – to communicate the coexistence of strength and struggle, compassion and combat.
