Artist Breanna Gordon (b. 1999, Ontario, Canada) draws inspiration from historical European painting. She blends the dramatic intensity of the Italian Baroque with the ethereality of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, this synthesis manifesting in compositions that soften the boundaries between waking reality and dreamland. Addressing concepts of empathy, liminality, and the passage of time, Gordon's practice forms a visual articulation of her lived experiences of anxiety as an intangible, all-consuming force.
Gordon graduated with an MFA in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts, London, in 2023, following completion of her BFA from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada, in 2020. At Queen's, she was awarded the International Postgraduate Scholarship to support her studies in London. Since graduating she has exhibited across Canada, Italy and the United Kingdom. Introspect is her debut solo exhibition.
