Naomi Boiko-Stapleton

Boiko-Stapleton portrays a fragmented narrative using recurring symbols as an aid to unveil previously forgotten memories. Her intimate iconography reconciles her experience of loss, inviting ever-evolving reinterpretations of a personal mythology. The titles are derived from cultural references and conversations with her late mother and now, ones with her sister.

Central to her paintings are depictions of women. Boiko-Stapleton reflects on her dual roles as both a young woman and a parental figure to her sister, who is navigating her own adolescence. She uses painting as a medium to re-visit girlhood through this lens. Through her art, she delves into the confusion and isolation inherent in this transitional phase of life.

Born in 2000, Boiko-Stapleton completed her BA in Fine Art Painting at Brighton University in 2022.
